Wanna Get Inspired?

... and feel totally incompetent at the same time? Well then check out Jak and Jil Blog. They have the most amazing photos of high end street fashion. Looks like they hang around in NY and Paris and know all the who's who of fashion and snap candid shots of them in their impossibly perfect to-die-for outfits. The hottest most expensive and hardest to find shoes are worn to work in these shots. You'll love it- check it out! You'll be impressed and green with envy at the same time.

This photo is of the incredibly sexy YSL Trib2 booties and is my current desktop picture on my laptop. So good.

Wa wa wee wah!

These heels are seriously kicking my ass right now. Some designers are taking the kooky heel crazy a little too far but these are great. I could imagine myself involved in some serious shenanigans in these babies. Like watch the eff out- here I come.

These scream modern day disco, but in exactly the right way. Just garish enough to still be totally hip. I'm not usually a Jimmy Choo kinda girl- I put Choo and Manolo in the same category: boring with a over-hyped name. The shoes are usually pretty enough, but not at all interesting enough to justify their price tag. These are a winner! WOO!

Look What I Found...

So in my attempt to "unblock" my brain, I was browsing some of my favorite blogs and various online shopping when I came across these hideous monstrosities. I never thought I'd find anything worse than Crocs or Uggs but I managed to find BOTH!

The worse than Crocs are by Friskyshoes and take the ugliest part of Crocs and make them even worse. They're a cross breed of Crocs and flipflops with some glittery shit thrown in to make them extra special.

Then, there's the worse than Uggs. They're an open toed version! They claim to be for girls who get pedicures in cold weather... um, ya. Even better? The company that makes them calls them Bootie Pies. hahaha.
More like Booty. These things are offensive.

So thanks to these two truly awful shoes, I am now in a better mood although no less stuck than I was before. Hey, at least I'm smiling now.

I've Hit a Wall...

Have you ever hit a creative block? I mean, super hard??
Well I have and it sucks. I have so much work on my plate and I just can't get myself to do anything. I have a deadline and I just can't seem to motivate myself. This is a big problem and I hate not knowing how to fix it!!

Any suggestions? I'm starting to freak out a little and I think I'm making it worse.

Adventures in Public Speaking

Sooooooo... I don't consider myself a good public speaker 'cause when I get in front of a room full of people I tend to babble on and on and act like a total dork. That said, I also can't say no to one of my favorite teachers of all time when she asks that I do exactly that.

Said teacher, Chris Amaral, was my teacher in a few of my classes in the fashion program over at Orange Coast College. One of those classes is a Careers in Design class (now in the awesome new art center building) where she asks various people from different design positions to come in and speak to her class and answer questions. There were a few students interested in shoe design specifically so I agreed to come in. I brought Ben in as well since Chris knows and loves him from his days at PF.

**side note... The first time I met Ben was when I was in this same class and we took a tour of Paul Frank Industries. Ben gave us a tour of the art dept. Crazy!! :)

So anyway, I spoke to the students and was really excited to meet young people interested in shoe design! There are so few designers out there and there really is a need for them. When people think of fashion design they usually think of apparel, but if you have a knack for it, there really is a need for new young designers in the footwear industry.

I loved walking around the art center looking at the student's art work. It's so inspiring and exciting to see young people finding themselves through their creativity. Anyway, if you have a school near you with an art program I highly recommend walking around and checking things out. If I have the time in the near future (doubtful) I'd love to go back and take an art class for fun. I almost forgot how much that helps "the process". I'm so stuck in my shoe bubble that I almost forgot how much fun painting and life drawing was.

Something to think about all you creative minds out there! ;)

80's Chic

Am I crazy? I totally love these boots!! They seem so 80's to me, and I love them. I think these would look so cute with black skinny jeans or leggings. Well, either that or a one-piece, high cut, white Budweiser baithing suit? You know, with those weird "nude" iridescent workout tights that they still wear at Hooters? Ok, now my cough medicine is taking over my brain.

Totally radical!

I love the bright red and the angled heel too. Let's just say I love everything about these, k? I'm not usually a pointy toe fan, but these are more of an almond toe, so I can forgive it.

Nothing from Maison Martin Margiela is ever cheap, and these boots are no exception. You can find them at Brown's for £655 (about $1200 US)

PS- Is it just me or is EVERYONE sick right now?? I've got it pretty bad. :(

An Easier Way to Wear it...

So you may remember those crazy silver metallic Giuseppe Zanotti wedges with the red lacquered bottom and yellow heel piece I bought last season? Well, it looks like the designer has made an easier to wear version. Same sexy silhouette, easier to wear colors. Plus, since they're satin, they're a bit cheaper. Bonus!

You can find them here for $695
