New Betsey Johnson!

I just want to let you all know that all the new Betsey Johnson styles are finally the stuff I worked on starting almost a year ago. Yay! There aren't a ton of my styles out yet but they're coming and from now on all the new ones are the ones I did :)

These are on one of my favorite shoe websites, Heels.com

I love this new outsole we did. Cute and girly, yet almost subtle.

You can find these ones on Nordstrom.com

You cant really tell by this photo but there are big set stones inside the little rosettes. :)
You can tell better on the black one...

Well, I hope you like!! I'm really excited and honored to be Betsey's shoe designer and can't wait to see the runway show this weekend!!
Also, thank you all so much for your positive comments and emails. I love you guys.

Alooooo-ha!

Hey friends!! I've been in Hawaii the past week for a little girls trip! It was amazing and so nice to be away from yucky cold weather for a while. Later this week I'm off to NY for Fashion Week where it will undoubtedly be freezing ass cold!
We were on Oahu, staying in Waikiki to be specific... and I must say that I was saddened by the amount of Crocs I saw on the island. I generally like to stereotype Japanese youth into the category of amazing and fashion forward, but that was clearly NOT the case in Hawaii because I'd say about 90% of them were wearing crocs. I wanted to cry.

Why the venomous distain for the brand? Well if you have to ask you clearly don't know me. I hate Crocs and everything they represent. See here here and here for past posts and further examples of my hatred.

Other than the yucky footwear, Hawaii was great and I'm now packing to get ready for NY. I'm excited to meet any of you who will be in the area so let me know what you are all up to. Is anyone going to any fun shows?? Spill!

FAILURE.

I had a post. It was ready to go. It was a massive post. But blogger's new editor is SO UNCOOPERATIVE and I've lost all the links embedded in that post and now I have nothing to give you so I will give you a picture of Peter Sarsgaard with a small child clutching his ears:

shopping ban: broken!

Dear Gladys,

You had really good taste.

So as before, my shopping ban has been broken by an estate sale, because LIKE MEN AND FINE WINE, jewelry is better with age.*

Unlike last time, this shopping ban lasted exactly two days, but I realize that my motivation for instating shopping bans in the first place is all wrong. Sure, preventing myself from buying things makes me less likely to be broke, but it doesn't generate money. At the end of a shopping ban, I'm not any richer than I when I started. But I am considerably pickier, which is more important in the long run.

So I've decided that it's okay to buy things, especially if I'm spending money less indiscriminately, because it helps me build a better wardrobe.

So these are my new (old?) rings. I actually love that they're all adjustable, which surprises me because I thought I would agree with yellow who (I think?) really dislikes adjustable rings. It's just nice to have rings that fit on my index, middle, and ring fingers without worrying if I'll be able to take them off. (FATTY!)

Another surprise is that I really like wearing yellow gold despite loudly declaring myself a silver and white gold kind of girl. I've been wearing this one every day:

This next one's from the Order of the Eastern Star, which I think is a Masonic organization for women. (I wore it upside-down in the other picture: the white star tip is supposed to point down.)

And here are the others, which don't have such interesting stories but which I love too:

*Not all jewelry is better with age. But I'm a sucker for old things. See misguided silver spoon purchase.

she's got me spending

Recently acquired things:

Above, plaid maxi dress, $5 via Target. This will be shortened to milkmaid length.

Above, romper, $17 via Forever21, purchased in anticipation of summer. I've never had a romper before, and I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this one because it is jersey, which can't be good for sitting in class for hours on end while sweating up a storm. But we'll see.

Above, London Fog handbag, $9 via ideeli. It is water-resistant. This makes me happy.

Above, ella bra, $26 from aerie by American Eagle. I would say I love this, but I don't. The fit is right (which is a complete shock for someone who fluctuates between cup sizes depending on the brand/which way the wind is blowing/other totally arbitrary factors), and the color is fantastic, but the straps are so thin. They keep twisting on me. Still, it's nice to have unpadded A- and B-cup bras.

Above, Lowriders from Skullcandy. Price: trivial cost of shipping my broken headphones for a warranty. So Skullcandy offers a replacement warranty for defective headphones and a 50% off coupon for headphones damaged by "aggressive listening." They ask you to send in whatever remains of your headphones and the story of how you broke them. I told them "My head is just too big you guys :(" and drew a picture of a girl with a huge head. They sent me a free pair. Now that's what I call classy. (Yeah, I'm looking at you, Victoria's Secret sales girl who completely humiliated me by asking if I wanted to have my bra measurements taken and then proceeded to tell me I was actually so small I didn't need to wear a bra and that you don't stock double-A but would I like to look at the beauty products? I may have a small band size, but I'm a B-cup. Fuck you.)

For the record, everything but the romper was purchased before my shopping ban was instated. The romper was purchased after, but it was supposed to count as "washable shorts" for rainy days, and I figured it could double as part of my summer wardrobe. I think I might exchange them, though.
