day of reckoning

In which I collect my math test, which I got a 59 on, which apparently is a B+. Well, damn, curve, that's almost as bad as high school, and I'm already supposed to know this material.

(Haha. "damn, curve" makes me think of The Sun Also Rises. "She was built with curves like the hull of a racing yacht...")

I'd just like to point out that the outfit above is the same as the outfit below, [- gray sweatshirt] and [+ white longsleeve], which I wore the day before.

So this is how I feel about math:

Also, in which I feel like I'm making bad, bad, bad decisions based on what other people are telling me to do with my life because I have no idea what I want:

But you've gotta fake it 'til you make it.

White longsleeve: Apt 9. Blue sweater: Old Navy, gift. Gray crew-neck sweatshirt: Target. Teal fake pashmina: gift. Skinny jeans: Forever21. Sneakers: Harajuku Lovers. Rings: estate sale, Forever21.

giveaway for your beautiful feet!

You guessed it, (American and Canadian) 2.5 readers! It's time for another giveaway, this one sponsored by CSN Stores' ShoesGotSole.com. The CSN network offers a large array of products aside from fabulous and classy shoes like the pair pictured above, including kids bedding, luggage, handbags, and steak knives. That's right: if you ever feel the urge to host a dinner party wearing an LBD, pearls, classy black heels, and an apron, but first you need to put the kids to bed in their color-coordinated duvet sets, after packing your belongings into indestructible luggage for a trip to Morocco the next morning, and you suddenly remember that the Nobel Laureate who only RSVP'd this morning is extra-discerning about his wine, and you need to grab your practical but classic handbag to run to the store, and you're preparing a medium-rare steak served on a bed of artfully arranged baby asparagus - CSN's got you covered.

How can you win the beautiful shoes pictured above, you may ask? You don't have to follow me on twitter or tumblr or blogger, or subscribe to my feed (but let's be honest: you're totally welcome to). Nope, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post no later than 11:59 PM (PST) of March 24, 2010, with answers to all 3 items below:
  1. What's your email address? (So I can contact you if you win!)
  2. How awesome are you?
  3. If you were throwing a dinner party the night before a trip around the world, what would you wear to play hostess and where would you be going?
The winner will be chosen at random and announced on the front page of this blog sometime soon after March 24th.

(I would be wearing a full-skirted vintage dress from the 1950s, preferably red, with a white apron printed with little red hearts, and a pair of peep-toes, and I'd be packing for my trip to France where I will meet my future husband who will spend his days pouring me wine and reciting dirty French poetry into my ear.)

That's it! Go forth and comment!

Oscar Wrap up...

Red Carpet Me

Did you like my dress? ;)

If you follow me on Twitter you know I was doing my version of live commentary throughout the entire pre-show on E! and the actual Oscars on ABC.
Here's a recap of my Tweets along with photos and some extra thoughts :)

Overall I was disappointed with the lack of shoes being shown, but the dresses were pretty amazing.

SOME OF MY TWEETS:
  • *Mariah Carey is DISGUSTING!!! Stop playing with your dress. Nobody wants to see your coochie!!! Jeeze bitch.
  • *Zoe Saldana looks amazinggggg. So pretty ♥
  • *Dear Mrs Cameron... Eat a damn cracker.
  • *I hope Mo'nique shaved her legs this time
  • *@ryanseacrest you forgot to ask Sigourney Weaver what she's wearing! I'm guessing its Lanvin but could be wrong.
  • *Ummm Miss Jay, how can we take your fashion advice seriously when you have silver spray paint hair?
  • *Stand up STRAIGHT Miley Cyrus!! My goodness.
  • *SJP... Do I love what you're wearing or don't I? Not sure yet but I DO know that your arms are bangin. Love u.
  • *Charlize Theron... Looks like two labias covering your tatas. Are you a movie star or a boobie star??
  • *Meryl Streep!!!!! Effing WERQ woman!!! Shit I love her!!!!!!!!!! Beeeautiful!
  • *Kate Winslet... I love you but SNORESVILLE... Zzzzzzz It's the#Oscars Spice it up. I suppose if you're not nominated it's ok be just ok
  • *Helen Mirrin looks so elegant. I hope I look that good when I'm grown up*
  • *Why does everyone think Jlo looks so great?? She looks like she's in lavender bubble wrap. Am I alone here??
  • *Did that chick just Kanye his speech??? WTF was that??
  • *Queen Latifah looks STUNNING! Go girl GO!
  • *I wish Kristen Stewart didn't always look so uncomfortable. You're famous bitch... get used to it.
  • *I think Meryl is my winner for most beautiful for the evening. She is glowing and glamorous and stunning and beautiful.

What I was talking about:

Let's start with miss slut bag Mariah Carey. Nasty. Please watch, and note at the beginning how she tries to flash us her crotch and Ryan Seacrest pulls her hand away... She continues to open her dress slit throughout the entire interview. Get a grip lady. You are not as hot as you think and you are too old for this shit.

Next up- Zoe Saldana in what I think was my favorite dress of the evening:

So girly! Sparkly and frilly... I'm in :)

Eat a cracker please...
She looked frail and sickly.

And Miss Mo did not, in fact shave. Apparently she just doesn't. Here's what I was talking about:
Mo'Nique at the Golden Globes. Yikes.

I guessed that she was in Lanvin and I was right-
Sigourney Weaver in a classic Lanvin style.

We're supposed to take a man who spray paints his hair silver seriously?
J Manuel was on E! giving us his opinion on the red carpet fashion.

Miley Cyrys would have probably looked great if she would have just stood up straight. She was practicing her hunchback all evening. Maybe she was trying to look high fashion?

I wasn't sure about SJP's dress last night and I'm still unsure. In this photo it looks like maybe she isn't sure either...

Here it was on Chanel's Haute Couture runway

Next up: Charleze Theron and the dress that I thought looked very... sexual. Are those vajayjays on her tatas??
Not into it.

Meryl Streep on the other hand... Perfection. I wish I had a video for her because this picture doesn't really do her justice. She was so elegant she took my breath away.

Kate Winslet may be beautiful and talented but her dress was BOOOOORING...

Helen Mirren... what an inspiration. I hope to look half this good at her age. What a beautifully elegant woman! What a cute couple too ;)

JLO came wrapped in Armani Privé lavender bubble wrap. What a bold fashion choice...
Bubble wrap... Bubble butt.

The "Miss Kanye" I was talking about. It was a pretty funny moment. It's funny because I tweeted that she Kanye'd his speech and that was exactly what tons of other people called it. I love that that is now a word.

The Queen WERQ'd!! She looked stunning!

Oh Kristen Stewart... Stop it with the awkwardness. You've got to get used to it or just stay home. If you saw her on stage you know what I mean.

So there it is. My Oscar wrap up. The highlight for me was Mariah Carey making and ass out of herself.
Hope you enjoyed!! What did you guys think?? Who were your favorites? Least favorites?

F/W 2010

I've decided to stop deluding myself into thinking that I shouldn't add my (extremely depreciated) two cents to the sea of fashion commentary. I like to hear myself talk too much. So to start off, here's a little something from 3.1 Phillip Lim, not because I'm feeling the mustard or the denim-on-denim action, but because those light wash drawstring denim shorts are so lazy and perfect:

Next up, two looks from G-Star, which I would never have guessed would appear on this blog judging by the name alone. The first, a badass graphic dress with only somewhat contrastive two-tone tights. Brilliant, badass, broccoli, and other b-words.

Another look from G-Star, again with the two-tone tights and clever arrow-shaped clasps on the jacket:

A look from ADAM just because it's pretty:

A really sexy, slouchy, androgynous silhouette from BCBG Max Azria (UNF).

A bizarre but definitely delicious color/print/silhouette combination at Gary Graham:

Another fantastic neutral color palette with punchy blue and deep red accents over at DKNY:

A little piece of WTH, DOO-RI! This seems so uncharacteristic of Doo.Ri at least compared to seasons past, but I don't care. I want to look like the Universe is having its baby on my torso too.

And to finish this post, OMG PRINTS at Anna Sui. Seriously, seriously, so utterly, unapologetically busy but so gorgeous:

le colour

In which I discover that
  1. restricting my wardrobe to a specific palette makes getting dressed really simple,
  2. my math GSI's office hours must be hell if the number of people normally exceeds the number of chairs in his office, not just before midterms, and
  3. I still suck at math.
Violet cardigan: Uniqlo. Light blue thermal: Old Navy, gift. Blue fake pashmina: gift. Miniscule tennis skirt: thrifted. Black tights: generic. Striped socks: gift. Black and white saddle shoes: Payless.

sigh high

Things I will partake in this fall: GRAY THIGH HIGHS. Because Prada S/S '06 is still on my mind, but now I'm on the verge of 20 instead of barely past my sweet 16, so it's more appropriate than ever to look inappropriate!

And these darker opaque versions from Cynthia Steffe F/W '10:

SIGH.

I have just been slain. Sockdreams, please restock your charcoal Super Basics sooner!
