I used to go to the salon every 4-6 weeks to get my hair colored. As time and money constraints kick in, these regular visits to the salon are not feasible.
I have experimented with just about every hair color brand on the market today. I would buy the ones that were on sale, the ones I had a coupon for, etc.
But the only brand that I get consistent results with is Preference by L'Oreal. I have used a natural version of the hair color and achieved very good results month after month.
What hair color product do you use? Have you used the same one for years? Leave your comments below.

You know what I think.
I’ve been told that turning 20 can be a game-changer, because once you are no longer a teenager, the realization hits that you need to get your shit together. I will be the first to declare to you that despite having declared a major in linguistics, there isn’t much else I can declare to you with any sureness other than that I do not have my shit together. My shit is apart.
Reason tells me that this is why I am a fake adult. I should have my shit together because I am not white or upper middle-class or middle middle-class or male, so I better get my shit together before the world tears me apart.
But what I think is that it is adult enough for me at 19 to go back to the shitty, moldy apartment that I now call home, and that UC Berkeley and my mother pay the rent for, and sit down with some headphones and the 500 Days of Summer soundtrack and worriedly, worriedly Google “symptoms of depression” after hesitating to do so for the better part of a year, not having felt like I needed to since I was eight.
And I breathed a sigh of relief and probably frustration because I am melodramatic and I think I would have liked an excuse for why living has been so mentally and emotionally taxing lately, and because I think the answer to every question I have is that I am just in a big, big rut (a big rut-rut), and if every thought of "It would be easier if I died" is appended by "But my mom and brother," I think I'm okay.
Which sucks because that means this is, like, a personalized rut that only I can get myself out of.
And then I opened a new tab to watch YouTube videos.
Anyway, I’m 20 now. This is what I was wearing back in the day, when I was 19. This is the look of someone who doesn't have her shit together and knows it:

a tight grip on reality
I think this outfit is boring, and I know this outfit was uncomfortable. So I'm going to tack some Glee screencaps on the end of this post to make myself feel better.

Above, gray cardigan: Uniqlo. Pink Peter Pan collar blouse: French Toast uniforms. Neck tie thing: found it in the closet. Teal jeans: Uniqlo. Black and white oxfords: Miz Mooz.

I mean, c'mon. Even though the Britney/Brittany episode had the worst plot in the entire series so far, Lea Michele's "...Baby One More Time" was such a fun throwback to the late 90s (and awesomely bad late 90s fashion). Plus, Jayma Mays has a fantastic blouse and even more fantastic hair.
Don't you feel better already?

Medium Hairstyles
When you are looking for a new hairstyle, it is a good idea to browse online and various magazines to find examples of hairstyles that you like.
Bringing a photo example of how you want your hair cut is the best way to get good results. For example, if you tell your hair stylist that you want bangs. There are so many different types of bangs available today-- short, choppy, long, layered, regular, straight, wispy, side swept and fringe. Your idea of bangs and your stylists' idea may be totally different.
Be prepared, bring a photo of the hairstyle you want.
Back to the point of this post--medium hairstyles. The medium length really is the most versatile option. You can still wear a ponytail, yet have other options that short hair does not.

here comes your man
I have to admit, when I walked out of my apartment wearing this, part of my thoughts were like "I am well aware that this is one of those outfits that the general public deems acceptable and possibly put-together, but I feel uncomfortable and awkward because I am projecting an image of myself that is an inaccurate reflection of my personality, because I am not a put-together person." (The rest of my thoughts were dedicated to mentally replaying Joseph Gordon-Levitt's unexpectedly sexy drunken rendition of "Here Comes Your Man" from 500 Days of Summer.)
To Stephanie's friend James, who'd only seen me once before, thank you for recognizing that this outfit was out of character and asking "Why aren't you all - dressed - up?"
I love observant people!
The Force is strong with this one.
