Valentines Schmalentines

Ben was gone on a business trip this Valentines Day so I was feeling pretty anti... hence the 3 day late post.

Instead of lighting some candles and staying home alone in the dark with my favorite dudes, Ben and Jerry, I got my ass up and put on some Valentine inspired footwear (adding a black heart necklace to match my mood) and headed out with some friends to the comedy club to see Harland Williams.

I heart these shoes! Unfortunately there half a size too small but they were the last pair on sale a while ago and I just had to get them. Some things are worth a little pain...

Big Hearts and Wedding Bells

I'm back!! Ah, it's so good to be home.

I got back Thursday and then hit the ground running. This weekend was crazy busy. I went to a wedding Friday night where my childhood best friend Mark married a really lovely girl named Carlie. Hi Carlie!! :)
Then yesterday I hosted a baby shower for my best friend Christie. I'm so excited to be an auntie to their beebee.
I broke in my Alexander McQueen red heart shaped peep toes... finally! I mean, what better reason to wear them than to celebrate love.

(dress- LaRok, necklace- Van Cleef, bow- Urban Renewal, shoes- McQueen)

I wore them with these adorable tights I found in a shop in London.

Wearing tights to help you break in a new pair of pumps (especially when you buy them a half size too small because they were the last ones and you know you won't find them in your size anywhere... eh HEM) is really great. It makes it a lot less painful. Just a little tip ;)

Also, please excuse the roots. I know they look terrible. I'm in the process of this look-

Long roots, light ends. I think my appointment is tomorrow so we'll see how it all turns out. ;)

Alexander McQueen...

His shoes have served as a great inspiration for the last few years. This past collection was beyond words.

What a sad and tragic way to end it all.
Rest in peace Mr McQueen. I hope you find the peace you are after.

Greetings Earthlings...

HELLO! From China!

I am over here working very diligently on my 4 shoe lines. It's as crazy as ever, but I'm having a pretty good time.
I think it's 'cause Jess and I started our trip off with a shopping trip to Hong Kong for 2 nights... AWESOME!

I didn't buy a lot, but I'm super happy with my 2 purchases. I got these awesome Melissa rubber tuxedo shoes and the Alexander McQueen scarf I should have bought at least 2 years ago cause they aren't that cool anymore. hahaha

I freaking love them so if you don't ... SHHHH.

...kidding. They're very Japanesey looking, don't you think? They're totally made of PVC (kinda like rubber but super soft and rad) and they're one piece. So awesome!!

I wore them walking around HK for a little bit (to and from dinner) and when my feet got a bit sweaty it was not so awesome, and if I put a little bounce in my step I'd fart fart fart along. True story.
Plus, these other language speaking men were (i think) talking shit on my new amazing glorious shoes in the elevator so I said "are you talking about my shoes? What, you don't like them?" to which they replied- "no"
So I did a little tap dance for them. Really, ask Jessie.

Awesome.

**ADDITION**

Yet another pair I need to wear again! These are so cute and they still smell like bubblegum! (Melissa adds bubblegum scent into all their plastic shoes. Amazing, I know)

McQueen Goes Extra Terrestrial

So I don't usually comment on fashion week or runway shows because, frankly, there are TONS of amazing fashion blogs that would do a better job than I. (Well Shod Well Informed, Style Bubble, Style Rookie, and Bryanboy to name a few)

But... BUT... this collection is just too amazing to keep my mouth shut about. The whole fashion world is abuzz with talk of how amazing McQueen looked in Paris.

I love how shockingly different this is. It's such a beautiful contrast to all the "safe" collections we have seen this season.
I can't help but wonder if these shoes were inspired by HR Geiger, because that's all I can think of when I look at it!

Anyway- I'll let the pictures do the talking...
(images via style.com)

This shape reminds me of a strange mix of sexy fetish footwear and alien like organic shapes. I'm half expecting the shoe to birth a litter of slimy creatures!

And look at that heel height!

The alien-esque hair and make up were outer worldly...

This grouping reminds me of robots or futuristic armor...

And finally- these shoes bring it home with a very "Geiger" feeling

...See what I mean?
What do YOU think?? I know few of us would actually wear these types of shoes but isn't it EXCITING to see such creativity?? Especially right now when it's so much easier to play it safe and be boooooring.
I feel like this is a collection that will be talked about for a long time to come. A piece of fashion history.

I'm in Good Company

So the heart shaped peep toe is obviously a trend and I'm glad to have been a part of it. ;)

Just thought I'd share 'cause seeing things I did in the past (these are Harajuku Lovers fall '09 shoes and will be out soon) being mirrored with other designers makes me feel like I'm doing something right.

I did a bunch of colors, and red is the only one without contrast piping- but it's the only picture I had. O well. Now I'm sounding like an insecure 3rd grader defending her art project.
You guys get the idea.

Valentines Schmalentines...

I for one, am not a big fan of Valentine's day. It's pretty silly and I think it puts a lot of pressure on dudes and they hate it most of the time. It's kind of a selfish holiday, no?
Plus, my baby's nice to me every day, so I don't need a holiday for that. ;)

ANYWAY, enough self-righteous ranting. hahaha

Though I'm apposed to the holiday, I'm always up for a theme and a reason to wear something to go with it. I love gaudy Christmas sweaters and Halloween costumes, and on Valentines Day... I go for the girly hearts and pink, white and red.
Here's my first attempt at using Polyvore.

hearts on shoes

Yay! I went into McQueen yesterday and saw those hot pink heart peep toes in person. I think the heart opening is a little too big and I hate when there's too much toe action going on.
I still love that Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoe (the pink one with the black hearts) but won't get them 'cause Pamela Anderson kinda ruined them for me.

Night on the Town...

Me and my tranny hooker shoes went to LA last night for my friend Sascha's birthday bash. We went to Geisha House for some overpriced sushi and cocktails and then headed to her promoter friend's house for a little pre party action- including Arizona's beat box champion showing us his "mad skills" ( If I were talking to you in person those would be air quotes. Ya, I'm not afraid to use air quotes people. I'm bringing them back like J-Timb and sexy.)

Anyway- then it was off to Kress, which much to our shagrin, was hosting an Affliction party. Barf. If you don't know what that means, consider yourself below the douche bag radar. Don't bother Googling it.

So yea- this post is chock full of pics with lots of fun details. Check it out-

Banksy really wanted to be in the picture.

Would you believe I spent like 5 hours carefully ripping this shirt? I blame Carbon Couture for giving me the idea! (though hers is waaaaay radder)

He seriously wouldn't get out of the frame. He's so cute!
So these are my tranny hooker shoes. I love them and Jak and Jil blog inspired me to bust them out again. It's rare to have an occasion to wear them and not look insane.

You bad boy! Haha.

Just wanted to add this pic cause it shws my shoes a little better. haha
