Dame Elizabeth Taylor
Some of my favorite images of the late Elizabeth Taylor are the more unexpected ones...
She's so beautiful just sunning herself. Stunning.
She always loved her diamonds
Insane beauty.
BEST! hahaha! I love how goofy she's being here. <3
Today we lost a legend. American royalty. One of the last of Hollywood's original greats.

Just a lazy day with James Dean. No big deal.

In My Dreams I'm a Ballet Dancer...
I've always had a fascination with ballet. Something so feminine and graceful and at the same time so restricted and disciplined.
I used to dream of being a ballerina and would always make up little dances and even pretended to be a water ballerina in the pool as a kid. I would always get so excited when someone would catch me dancing and ask if I was a ballerina.
I am totally mesmerized by Kanye West's Runaway. I've watched it at least 5 times. If you haven't seen it yet, do your self a favor and take 34 minutes and 33 seconds aside to do so. Here are some of my favorite ballerina images...
*fun fact! Did you know that Phillip Lim was Paul Frank's first clothing designer? My hubby worked with him 10 years before anyone knew his name. So cool!
And then of course there is Black Swan. More ballet mania! Such a beautiful and terrifying film. Oh and how I'd love to be Natalie Portman. What an insanely beautiful and talented actress. She trained her ass off to do all the dancing in the film. She did an amazing job.
I love seeing how films influence fashion. I'm curious to see ballet inspired shoes and dresses and how they're interpreted.I have these Dona Karan Collection ballet shoe inspired heels that I will dig out when I get back. They're pretty cool!

Other Worldly Shoes
As mentioned by Luxirare and StyleBubble... These Anastasia Radevich creations blew my mind. The following shoes are from her latest collection called Kenetik. They are true sculptural and technical masterpieces.
As a shoe designer, I really appreciate the love and creation that goes into shoe design. The blood and sweat behind the end result. When I see designs of this caliber I love to guess at what inspired the designer...
The heel is like black ink gliding through water. It's so beautiful and unlike anything I've seen.

Maybe she was inspired by liquidity. Dancing moving pigment.
Bjork's Vespertine album comes to mind as well. Something about the artwork reminds me of the fluidity of the heel.
These shoes have LED lighting in them... behind a screen of mesh, they remind me of electric Jellyfish. Or a far away galaxy.
There is something very alien like about jellyfish. Something about these shoes as well.
Whatever her inspiration was, she has inspired me. These are amazing and I'd love to get my hands on a pair.
By the way, Some other LED shoes...
Rodarte
Jimmy Choo
Ok, not shoes, but Katy Perry's light up dress at the Met Gala

Betsey Johnson sent light up stripper shoes like these down the runway

Giveaway!!
As I've said before, I LOVE giveaways! Anytime I can offer my readers a chance to win something, I'm in!
I love many things in life, but besides shoes, I'd have to say that skincare and cosmetics are my obsession. I find that I can never say no a great cosmetics pitch, which is why I have drawers full of once used lipsticks and bright eyeshadows that seemed like a fun idea at the time. I'm always into the newest skincare craze and facial treatment so this giveaway is right up my alley. I was very excited when the nice people over at Perricone contacted me to do a giveaway!
For those who are hearing about Perricone for the first time, I will shortly introduce the company-

So let's cut to the chase- They are giving away a bottle of their Cold Plasma anti-aging cream ($150 value) to one lucky reader! YIPPEE!! This product looks amazing!
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post! (Make sure to leave an email address if you are posting without a link...)
You can also enter again by tweeting me @TheShoeGirl and mentioning Perricone MD. Yep, it's that easy!
The contest starts today and I will announce the winner (chosen randomly) Monday, November 30th, 2009.
Good luck!!
