Take the Good With the Bad

Ok. So. I don't know how to do this so I'll do it quick like a band-aid

Ben and I split up and I'm really depressed and I haven't worn heels more than 3 times in the last month and I don't know what to blog about because every time I try to write a post I just get real sad and shut my computer and my life is a crazy mess and I'm a mess and I don't want to talk about it!

Ahhhhhh, much better.

Ok? So that's out of the way.

In other news... The shoe show starts tomorrow and although I'm in a little bit of a zombie state, I'm sure I'm excited somewhere in there. I'm really happy with how the Cece L'amour shoes turned out and can't wait to share some of them with you :) It's so frustrating that I can't just show you the shoes but you know, that isn't the smartest thing to put them out there before buyers buy them ;) ... so we'll wait.
You can see the 3 page ad spread in Footwear News too!! I'll post those soon.

There are also the Adrienne Maloof shoes that are SUPER sexy and fantastic! Hopefully you'll get to see some of our design process on the new season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!!

Bebe looks really good- I'm really happy with that and I have NEWS about the glitter wedge you guys email me about like every other day. haha

They will be available in stores November at Macy's for sure and I'll get info on more stores as soon as I hear about it.

So that's what's up with me. I love you guys... thanks for your patience and support!

The Big Apple

I'm off to New York for a few days with my husband on a business trip that we've decided to extend into a mini-vacation. Internet access is going to be sketchy while I'm gone, so I don't expect to have a new post up until after the weekend (though Jim will likely have his Friday post up). I'm looking forward to our trip. We're going to see "The Addams Family" on Broadway-- so you know I'll have to put up a review for that!

Have a good week everyone and I'll be back soon!

Heat Wave

I don't own a lot of expensive clothes because, well... I just can't afford them. Expensive shoes are bad enough, I can't imagine if I bought designer clothes too! Then I'd have to find a designer cardboard box to live in.

When I was in New York I went to Century 21 for some seriously discounted designer goods. It's pretty amazing there if you're willing to take time to dig for hidden treasures. For us West Coasters, think Lohman's but WAY bigger and with some seriously high end designers.

While digging I found some great Vivienne Westwood Anglomania stuff, including this...

It's like a flowy vest type thing but can be buttoned and belted and worn like this..

I love the bold print. I guess I'd describe it as a sort of baroque tribal print. The original price was outrageous! I think it was like $350 but Century 21's price was $160 and with my 50% discount (we sell to them so we get hooked up)... $80 Not bad, right?? I got a few other pieces from her that I just love. I got some great Marc by Marc stuff too :)
Yay for not paying retail!

I love these clunky chunky shoes by Celine. They've taken quite a beating with me wearing them all Summer, but the leather wore in really nicely :)

The pop of color on the top inspired my to bust out my Heat Wave lipstick by NARS. Pretty appropriate since we are in the middle of a scorching heat wave!!

Save My Sole!

A few months ago a company called Kushyfoot contacted me about sending me samples of their products. Being the shoe whore shoe lover that I am, I told them that I would gladly check them out... well I sure am glad I did!
The product that I thought would be the most useful for me were their Flats to Go. They're super easy to stuff in even the smallest handbags and are a total life saver when you need them. They're a no-brainer and I wish I would have thought of them first!
I had them with me in my bag at all times during Fashion Week in New York in case of a shoe-mergency.

They look Ok though I definitely wouldn't wear them as shoes on purpose. They're not ugly, just not "real" footwear and though they don't seem durable enough to last forever, at only $9 a pair... who cares! They get the job done. They lasted through Fashion Week and literally saved my feet numerous times. Think heels in the meatpacking district!! All those cobblestones? Forget it!

(image piedolatrie)

Princess Poochie and I both slipped ours on after the Betsey Johnson show on our way to the Stacy Lomman show. It was raining and we both felt like our feet were getting a bit soggy in them but they survived and they saved my precious Spine Heels from the wet streets.
I think they should add these to women's restrooms at bars. Like, they should have a machine that has tampons, lip gloss, and disposable flats. Genius if I do say so my self. And I do. ;)

The product that sort of caught me off guard though were these Super Low Cut Foot Covers. Um... AMAZING. I am not exaggerating ladies. I will be wearing these with everything this Fall. They are a new ShoeGirl staple.
I almost overlooked them in my package of goodies they sent but when I was packing for New York I grabbed them just in case.
I usually use regular ped socks when I wear boots or any kind of lace up shoe but I have these pink oxfords that are low cut and a regular ped would show. So, I tried these out and I will never look back. They have padding on the ball of the foot and even more importantly, in the back... you know, where you usually get blisters from shoes rubbing if you walk too long? Not any more. And they're thin like tights so they don't make your shoe feel smaller. They're low cut enough that you can wear them with pumps if you want too!! They're total pedicure savers too which is a great bonus. I hate when I get pedis in the Fall and then wear a closed toe shoe that chips off my polish!

I love love love these and think you should check them out. You can find theme here at Kushyfoot.com or on Amazon.

Friends and Fashion Week... Fin

Wednesday was my day off from shows so you know what that means...
S H O P P I N G ! !

I got a bunch of amazing stuff but most importantly- THE SHOES!

These Miu Miu's are sweet and sexy! Yes please.

And these? These Alexander Wang booties are ridiculous. They are so high and uncomfortable but SO good...
I need to stress the height here
I mean, seriously. Yikes.

I'm in love. Shoe love is a polygamist love... But it's so good.

On to Thursday which was was the day of my last show. The L.A.M.B. show!
It was so fun and they were really good to me with the seating assignment. Betsey's people shoved me in the 8th row against the wall like a red headed step child, and you know what happened at bebe.
We were second row behind Debbie Harry and Tom and Tony from No Doubt. So cool.

And speaking of cool- look at this! No wait, listen first cause it sounds cooler than it looks.
My picture is on Vogue.com in the "front row" section of their runway coverage! I'm there along with some seriously cool celebs which in turn, made me feel pretty cool myself. Don't tell anyone that I'm really not, I wanna see how long I can fool them ;)

Now am I the only one, or does it look like I sniffed a fart?
I wish the girl that took this told me who she was. I would have backed up, pulled out an oil blotter, and smiled.
Here's my do-over. Happy me.

Anyway, the show itself was so fun and SO Gwen. Prints prints everywhere. I love how she designs things that she wants to wear herself. It comes across as totally her and 100% genuine.
A mix of dance music and classic reggae played loudly while Gavin and the boys from No Doubt bobbed their heads to the beat. It was such a cool scene, just like the lady of the hour herself.

Here are some of my favorite looks from the show

And Gwen herself. Such a cutie!

Gwen is truly amazing and sweet and talented and I am really honored to get to work with her. I'm so proud of her success in design and music and her family. It's really great to be a part of it, even if it's a teeny tiny part. I'm really lucky and I'll never forget this amazing time in my life.

After the show? The after party!

Now for my stalkerazzi photos of the night...

Friends and Fashion Week, The Dramatic Conclusion, Part 1

Ha! You like my blog titles lately don't you? There should only be one more to finish all these fashion week posts, I just have too much stuff to fit into one or two posts. You understand... ;)

Next up? Tuesday the 14th and another double runway show day.

First was Badgley Mischka and it was really beautiful. You guys know my friend Jess designs their shoes right? We now also do their Mark and James line, a younger more casual line. Both looked great and I loved the show. It was all so pretty and girly and I loved the bouncy soft curls and pink floral background.
Here are some of my favorite looks...

(photos NY Mag)

I'm really loving the whole 70's vibe that fashion has gone into. It's so feminine flouncy and flattering. FFFFFF

Some of my stalkerazzi shots...

barf.

heeeey girls!

Next up? The hot mess that was the bebe show. Ya I said hot mess. The line was a joke. It was literally a city block long and that was when I arrived at 6 when the shoe was supposed to start. The security didn't know what they were doing and were letting all kinds of people sneak in. People with assigned seats were waiting in line and when they announced that they were at full capacity at 6:30, people were pissed. I heard complaints from the press line- someone from a HUGE magazine was there and was not being let in. It was ridiculous.
Luckily I got pulled in by one of the girls running the show, but at that point the show was almost over and my seat was taken.
Hot. Mess.
I have no photos because I couldn't see sh*t and I'm butt hurt.

OMG and then the bebe after party!! hahahaha. It was ok. I took my friend Ana with. We hung out for a bit, had a drink and then left early to eat really quick. Then we came back and giiiiiirl... wouldn't you know the open bar was closed. No biggie. A $15 glass of wine it would be.
Then there was this douche of a bus boy, bus man really, who tried to take our drinks away (we set them on the table) and said "the free party is over" to which I replied, "that's ok. This was a $15 glass of shitty wine." He called me a liar and and a cheap bitch. I'm serious you guys. It was really psycho.
He quickly grew to hate us and kept walking by and calling us bitches... SO weird. And when we left I spilled my remaining drink on the table (THAT was bitchy, I know) and he chased us and SPIT on Ana!!!!!!! hahahahahaha. Insanity!!

Next up is the L.A.M.B show and my debut in Vogue. (sort of)

Friends and Fashion Week, Part 1

I've only been in New York for a few days now but there has been a whirlwind of activity already! My favorite part about this week isn't the fashion shows or the parties or even the really amazing and often amusing people watching... It's seeing friends from all over the place.

Friday night I met up with my friend Ana at the end of Fashion's Night Out. I flew in pretty late Friday so I missed most of the craziness of the day.

(leggings- Charley 5.0, tank- Obey, vest- All Saints, jacket- Sylvia Rielle, shoes- Lanvin)

We went to this really ridiculously pretentious club where Ana knew the DJ and the doorman was a complete dick and took his job waaaaay too seriously. Loser. There were coked out models everywhere and we didn't stay long. Outside the Standard there was this cute thingy where dudes were done up like Ken dolls....

That guy's blowing me a kiss cause he totally had a crush on me. ha.

Check out those abs! He must use the Ab Rocket.

We left and met up with my friend Dan Smith and his friends at the Soho Grand. I saw Chris Brown and Kimora Lee (separately) and then was excited to see Susie Bubble but she wasn't as excited to see me. Haha. It was an awkward meeting... maybe it was my fault for drinking too mucho mojito. Whatever.

Saturday day my sister and I ran around shopping and eating delicious food like only New York can make. I met up with Dan and his friends again for dinner at Red Bamboo and then the BEST RICE PUDING EVER at Rice to Riches. It totally gave me a tummy ache but it was amazing.

I think we walked like 10 miles that night. From Tribeca to Soho to the East Villlage and through Little Italy where it looked like Christmas time.

It was September 11th so we stopped by the WTC to pay our respects. It was pretty heavy. Seeing it in person hits you pretty hard, even 9 years later.

More to come...........
