03 August 11
Jeff and I made an executive decision and took down the hideous plaid curtain over our small living room window, and it's amazing what a difference it makes. It wasn't even on a curtain rod, it was just two halves of an old metal pole taped around a pencil crayon in the middle, so we didn't feel at all bad throwing it out.

24 July 11
Another hot day in the Okanagan, with an impressive nine wineries visited in the Oliver area. Unfortunately that left us no time to visit any in the Keremeos/Similkameen region. Maybe next year.

27 June 11
I went over to Flatland and Amanda, Laryssa, Jeff D and I sat on the porch drinking wine until it got windy and cool. Then we went inside and sat on the living room floor listening to music, smoking the hookah, and eating popcorn. A lovely evening.

On our final day in Napa Valley, we went to Castello di Amorosa - a Tuscan-style castle that is also a winery. Then we had lunch in Calistoga at a bistro that Keith Richards and Mick Jagger apparently ate at, and spent the rest of the day driving along the 101 to Eureka.
A few more photos here.

We drove down to San Jose to go to the Winchester Mystery House. It wasn't as creepy as I expected, but it was still very interesting and historical. And the lady was obviously batshit crazy.
In the evening we had dinner at Farmstead, which is a restaurant attached to a winery and farm in St. Helena. Most of their menu comes directly from the farm, and it's not often I'd describe a cheeseburger as mindblowing, but it certainly was.

We rented bikes in Yountville and went on a self-guided tour around wine country. I think we went to about 6 or 7 different ones, and our backpacks got heavier and heavier... though I must say, after visiting the Okanagan wineries I was not prepared for such expensive tastings! Some places went up as high as $30, and almost nowhere were the fees waived with purchase.
Pictured above is a place called the St. Helena Olive Oil Company, and it was full of wonderful culinary things like truffle salt and tapenade. After returning our bikes and changing clothes and things, we had dinner at a fantastic Italian restaurant which resides in an old bank building.

14 March 11
It was Pi Day, and although my desire to eat pie at Angela's was strong, I didn't feel much like socialising. Jeff and I stayed home and watched Ratatouille which was truly delightful and appealed to the foodie in both of us, and the Disney child in me.
My succulents are growing. Perhaps it is time to move them from their crappy plastic IKEA pots.

We went to a pajama party at Ray's. I didn't know if it was supposed to be classy or regular style pajamas, so I just wore sweatpants and a camisole and hoodie; at least that way I wouldn't be cold. When I got there Ray and Chris were both wearing silk boxers and sock garters and smoking jackets, and their apartment was boiling as soon as it had more than four people in it, so in retrospect I should have gone with the satin romper. Oh well.

Jeff and I were too tired to cook, plus we had no real food, so we had dinner at Burgers Etc. We intended to get groceries afterwards, but forgot that Donald's closes at 8 and not 9. We went to Safeway to pick up the essentials and ran into Val and Sean also doing late-night grocery shopping.

Sarah hosted a Solstice party (a few days early) at our place. It was a fun time full of booze and food. I don't think any glasses even got broken, which usually happens at our parties.

26 November 10
I went to The Body Shop after work because I needed shampoo. I forgot about the whole... Black Friday thing. I waited in line at the cashier for almost half an hour!
Afterwards I met up with Jeff at work and we went to watch the game at Ceili's Pub, where we drank some beer and ate some food and talked about space-time paradoxes. Also some girls gave us free Guinness.

Waiting at the Chop Shop (I didn't get a haircut, the lady who does the waxing works out of there now). I fell in love with some shoes on the way there but I didn't buy them.
