20 February 12

elephant teapot
I had a mad craving for Thai curry, so Jeff and I went up to Thai Cafe in the Heights for dinner. I also ordered a jasmine tea and it came in this delightful elephant teapot! Then we picked up a roll of slide film at London Drugs and came home and had more jasmine tea while we looked through them.

Jewellery supplies. I'm excited to turn these feathers into earrings, even if I can't wear them.

Nicholas Kirkwood x Keith Haring

On my last trip to Hong Kong I was so super excited to see these amazing one of a kind shoes on display. They were at Lane Crawford in Kowloon and I can't believe how lucky I was with my timing.

At first I thought maybe they were for sale and I frantically ran down a sales person and asked to try on anything they had left in my size. No luck though... these were all made as one-offs and are now part of a traveling exhibit. They started off in Kirkwoods flagship London boutique and now travel to the world's most prestigious boutiques.

Nicholas Kirkwood for Keith Haring.

Aren't they incredible!? The roller skates are so much fun!

14 November 11

this business of art
I put old t-shirts into frames when I don't wear them anymore, but can't bear to get rid of them.

31 October 11

pumpkins on the doorstep
The pumpkins Sarah and Onur came up with. On Halloween Jeff made pumpkin soup and we ate it while watching The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror and handing out candy. And eating candy.

27 October 11

I felt like ass the day before, but forced myself to go in to work because I had too much to do. Unfortunately this just made me feel worse the next day so I HAD to stay home. I spent a good 40 minutes arranging these concert tickets to put in this frame, not gluing them or anything, and of course as soon as I stood the thing upright all the ones in the middle slid down to the bottom. I still haven't bothered to take it out of the frame and do it properly yet.

25 October 11

I think I accidentally deleted my photo from the 24th, which is when I went to Chelsea's to get my hair cut. Here is an awful photo from Tuesday, when I had another date with Liang. We ate burgers at Pivo and then went to Tinseltown and saw a cute French movie called Les Femmes du 6ème Étage, about Spanish maids in Paris in the 1960s.

27 August 11

bike basket full of art

It was the day of the Papergirl ride-out, so I followed everyone with my camera as they stuffed their bags & bike baskets with rolls of artwork and handed it out to unsuspecting passers-by along the seawall. Some people were really excited, some were apprehensive, and some flat-out said no. It was great, though. Afterwards Jeff and I had some pizza and a beer at the Yaletown Brew Pub before riding home.

23 August 11

Kaylie and Amanda checking out the artwork

I was the official photographer at the opening of the Papergirl Vancouver art showcase at the Roundhouse. Please do check out the blog or look up the facebook page if you don't know what Papergirl is. Jeff and a cohort, Alix, got this started in Vancouver (Jeff later had to step aside as coordinator due to other obligations but stayed on as a volunteer) and by the time of the showing they had over 500 pieces of art donated to give away! Pretty amazing stuff.

You can see a few more photos from the event here and here.

Death Metal Shoe Girl

If you're in the Orange County area tomorrow you should definitely stop by the Pretty in Pink Boutique in Costa Mesa at 7pm to check out their photography art show! They're going to have all kinds of fun stuff including a series by my friend Leah. You may recognize this lunatic...

Yep that's me.

There's more too but you'll have to come see them in person. I'll be there with my best girlfriends and some really cute clothes by the way! Extra bonus :) OH! And the Kogi BBQ truck. Perfect.

01 June 11

we're gods
A hockey game happened and I went to Steph's to watch it. There is always such interesting stuff painted on the trash bins outside her building.
I did not take a photo on the 31st because I stayed home sick and basically wanted to die until around 3pm.

22 May 11

Skagit River Brewing Co
This is outside the Skagit River Brewing Company in Mt. Vernon. We stopped there for lunch and a beer and then had to come back like an hour later because that's when Jeff realised he'd forgotten his laptop bag. Luckily it was still there. We waited like an hour and a half to cross the fucking border, but it was fantastic to sleep in our own bed again.

the Wonderful World of Color
We went back to Catal for breakfast because we liked it so much and their patio was so nice. Then we spent the day at California Adventure. We saw a fucking incredible stage production of Aladdin, and in the evening staked out a spot to watch The Wonderful World of Color, which is sort of a fountain/light/projector show on the water. But words can't describe how amazing it is. The photo above might give you an idea, but it's hard to capture scenes from Disney movies being projected onto a screen of water, or rainbow jets of water five stories high.
A few more photos here.

30 April 11

new ink
June gave me a new tattoo. It had been several years since I'd been under the needle, so I was kind of anxious. It wasn't too bad though, and it certainly looks great. Afterwards I made my way to Steph's where we ate pizza and watched an abysmally boring hockey game.

09 April 11

carnage jewellery
In the morning we went to The Roundel for breakfast, and then wandered along Hastings checking out a couple of antique & thrift stores. At the secondhand store Jeff and I bought a new lens for the Pentax and an old Konica, and I got some new sunglasses. Later Madeleine came by to talk about the possibility of me taking photos for her Etsy shop and I did a few sample shots (one of which can be seen above).
