03 December 11

winter evening on 10th
Slept late. Ate gigantic bagel sandwiches for breakfast at a cafe. Shopped until we got tired of shopping. Alice got her hair dyed at a nice salon on Morrison. We put on heels with our jeans and headed to an Italian restaurant called Mucca and ate a lot of cheese and pasta, and admired the handsome Italian chefs in the open kitchen. They sent us a free panna cotta for dessert (though Mom and I suspect it was because of Alice). The best part was when two ladies came in and sat at the table beside us, looked at the menu, and one of them said to the other, "I thought this was an Italian restaurant. I don't recognize any of this stuff," and then they left! Bitch, if you want lasagna, go to the goddamn Olive Garden.

chief navigator and head which-wayer
Jeff and I awoke at the unholy hour of 6am and had breakfast and packed up the car. We drove to my mom's and helped them pack up their car and finally got on the road around 9:30. Had a picnic lunch at a rest stop, and landed in the lovely town of Ashland, Oregon around 9pm for dinner at a delicious brew pub. Admitting that our original goal of reaching Redding was perhaps too ambitious, we stopped for the night in Yreka, just over the California border.

baby blue
Went to Steph's after work to watch the game. She made me pasta dinner and then Tams and Maine and Val came and we drank beers and talked over the commentary, like you do.

ice crystals
Jeff and I slept late and then went for lunch with Tony and his new lady friend, Joanne, at Bombay Bhel (seemingly the only restaurant in the Heights that was open). The food was delicious... Indian food is something I almost never crave or feel in the mood for, but once I start eating it it's so good. In the evening Jesse used my chili recipe to make dinner and we watched the hockey game.

Broadway & Stark
The street below our hotel room at the Benson. We spent the day shopping at Lloyd Centre, which was noticeably less horrible than the previous year, largely based on the fact that a) we had the granny cart and b) it was a weekday. Then we had a most delicious dinner at Pazzo, and continued boozing in the hotel bar. A group of old dudes bought us a round of drinks so we got nicely liquored up and then proceeded to raid the mini-bar in our hotel room after the lounge closed. Drunk on a Monday, awwww yeah.

Vroom vroom!

So I've always been a fan of classic cars but I've never owned one. I don't know anything about fixing them or anything but I cant help but love them. I'm looking into getting one for my next car and I'm super excited and becoming kind of obsessive.
I especially love vintage Mercedes Benz's! They just don't make cars like this anymore...

Such beautiful lines.

I think my favorite is from 1969, though most of the ones from the '60s are pretty sweet.

I'm imagining driving around in one of these and feeling pretty awesome. I also think the photo potential is pretty amazing ;)
Till then I've done some pretty high tech photoshopping. haha. Dreaming out loud...

"Oh hey guys. Just doin some shopping on Rodeo Drive. No biggie. What's that? You want a photo?? Suuuure."

"What? Oh no no, I didn't dress to compliment my car color. Oh you like it? Why thank you... And you want me to be a famous actress and model and you'll pay be a billion kajillion dollars to do so? Oh no, I couldn't."

"I'm just on my way to hang out with all my rapper friends. They said they didn't want to have a party unless I was coming so I better go... Snoop hates when I'm tardy for the party."

Do any of you have older cars?? What kind?
