Jeff made me breakfast: bacon, avocado, cheese, tomato, and pea shoot sandwich. I forget what I did after that. Maybe nothing.

Thanksgiving dinner
Thanksgiving dinner! There was a serious pumpkin pie mishap in the afternoon which resulted in broken glass in two people's feet and having to mop the floor and clean everything in the fridge, but other than that everything went pretty much according to plan.

pictured, clockwise from where Jeff's hand is: vegan sage stuffing, vegan mushroom gravy, roasted beets, roasted brussel sprouts, maple-sage turkey with boar bacon, turkey gravy, white wine broiled catfish with fennel & tomatoes & olives, vegan lentil loaf, mashed purple potatoes & yams.

not pictured: cranberry-fig-orange sauce, non-vegan stuffing, maple sweet potatoes with cinnamon butter.
desserts: pumpkin pie, vegan apple pie, white chocolate pumpkin cheesecake, vegan whiskey vanilla ice cream, cognac whipped cream.

Blue Buck and potato leek soup
We spent the whole day cooking and running errands. In the midst of it, Jeff made this potato-leek soup so that we didn't forget to eat.

30 September 11

making pizzas
Chris and Kristina had their joint stag party (after separate male- and female-oriented events in the afternoon) at Rocky Mountain Flatbread, where we got to make our own pizzas! The place is super committed to being sustainable and local, and they are very vegan-friendly as well.
We drank a lot of beer and then Chris had to hang out in the bathroom for awhile, and then Kristina and Phil half-carried him to the King's Crown pub for more drinks (though his drinks consisted of water by that point, and he apparently still had to go home and sleep in the bathtub). Jeff and I didn't stay too late but it was a great time anyway.

23 September 11

making pizza
I convinced Jeff to make pizza for dinner (he was pretty easy to convince). Then we sat around having drinks with the roommates and some friends.

Cookoff day, hooray! This is my asparagus and oyster mushroom tart, in spelt filo pastry with roasted garlic & applewood smoked salt cream cheese (the dots on the plate are hot sauce). As usual, you can check out the cookoff blog to see the rest of the entries as well as who won!

30 August 11

summer dinner
I stayed home from work because of my idiotically injured foot, and spent the day reading and cooking and baking. I made a blackberry crumble, as well as this dinner: tofu with the leftover cornmeal batter from the cookoff, marinated zucchini & red onion salad, and black beans & rice with peas & cilantro.

29 August 11

crispy fried tofu and fruit salsa
My entry for the local seasonal fruit cookoff (which was also gluten-free): nectarine, blueberry, and tomato salsa with cilantro & lime basil, served with chili-cornmeal crusted fried tofu. Please check out the cookoff blog to see the other entries and who won!

stir fried veggies & tofu

Sarah's friend Cameron was home visiting from Japan, and he came over for dinner (and wine). I helped her cook this up: stir-fried veggies & tofu with miso-tahini sauce, on top of brown rice.

25 July 11

Malloreigh and Kaylie came by for dinner and Jeff and I made this sun-dried tomato pesto sauce with portobello mushrooms, yellow zucchini, asparagus, and peppers. We drank several bottles of wine and chatted until it got late.
